From the Texas Facilities Commission:
I’m sure you have noticed the construction project across from the Triangle on Lamar. This is one of our active projects and we would like to formally introduce ourselves. The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) has been tasked to build the new campus for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) at the North Austin Complex located between 45th and 51st Streets and North Lamar Boulevard.
Our construction zone is complex and requires extensive scheduling and coordination with stakeholders, vendors, suppliers and crews. In this process, there will be some inconveniences to area residents as the construction progresses in this busy transit corridor and active neighborhood. Our goal is to minimize any disruption to our neighbors and traffic.
Most of the construction work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. However, there are a few critical tasks that must take place after hours to minimize traffic disruptions. The next such task is the concrete pours. This requires numerous concrete trucks to be staged on site and ready to pour their concrete loads in sequence for maximum efficiency. Unfortunately, this must be done after hours when there is minimal traffic. Typically, this task is done in 3 to 4 hours, between 1:00 and 5:00 a.m.
The following is our immediate concrete pour schedule.
February 13th Beginning at approximately 1:00 a.m.
February 22nd Beginning at approximately 1:00 a.m.
March 6th Beginning at approximately 1:00 a.m.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience during these late night/early morning hours, but it is necessary a component of the project’s tight work schedule. We hope you will share this information with your tenants and neighbors. If you have any feedback about this project, please call or email me. We invite you to learn more about this important project and watch our progress live at: https://tfc-nac.com/copy-of-aerial-photos
Thank you for your patience with our construction project.
Construction Project Overview
The North Austin Complex will soon serve as headquarters for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) that ensures that seniors, families and children receive the health services and benefits for which they qualify. Phase One of the project includes a nine-story office building and seven story parking garage and should be completed by December 2020. Phase Two of the project will be a six-story office building and 2000 additional parking spaces. This investment in Texas government infrastructure will provide more convenient access for the public by consolidating agency offices now housed around the city into one central location and retire over $13 million of annual lease expenses. www.tfc-nac.com
